Readers now look for signs that a person wrote what they are reading. When those signs are missing, a long, polished message can read as if no one wrote it at all. Make It Sound Human draws on research into how readers judge messages they suspect were written with AI. Readers could usually tell a person’s message from a machine’s, and ironically, many of the harshest critics of AI-written messages used AI in their own work.
